39 Iced Coffee Drinks (And How to Make Them)

Iced coffee is incredibly popular in the summer months, no matter where you are in the world. This refreshing pick-me-up is a great way to quench your thirst on a hot day, and one of the best things about chilled coffee drinks is how customizable they are.

Iced coffee may seem like a relatively new trend as it has been made so popular by the likes of Starbucks and other major coffee chains, but it actually has a long, rich history.

The combination of dark, earthy, strong coffee, combined with ice, and a combination of additional flavors makes it truly irresistible.

There is so much variety that comes with iced coffee, and this list of 39 of the best-iced coffee drinks is just the beginning! I hope you try some of these out for yourself!

What is Iced Coffee?

Iced coffee comes in such a wider variety of forms that it can be difficult to pin down exactly what is meant by it.

Generally speaking, iced coffee is any coffee-based drink that is deliberately served cold rather than hot. This is done by adding ice, chilling the coffee in the fridge, or brewing it cold in the first place.

There are so many brewing techniques, flavor combinations, and different ingredients associated with iced coffee. One of the most common methods used to give the coffee a sweeter, more subtle taste is adding sugar, honey, or another sweetener of choice to the freshly brewed coffee whilst it’s hot.

This allows it to infuse with the coffee more effectively, as the sweetener will dissolve in hot coffee more quickly than in cold.

History

There are actually a number of origin stories that relate to iced coffee, so where you believe it all started kind of depends on what specific type of cold coffee you are trying to track down.

For example, according to the article “Iced Coffee: the ultimate and tasty refreshment” published by Solis in March 2021, iced lattes were first introduced into popular culture in Algeria back in 1840. It is said that iced lattes were introduced by the French during the battle of Mazagran, and they had a distinctly sweet taste to offset the bitter coffee used at the time.

However, another popular iced coffee drink is the frappé. As per The Spruce Eats’ article by Mariette Mifflin “What Is a frappé?” (24/06/2022), the first versions of frappés were introduced in Greek trade markets in the 1950s. Back then, instant coffee was used and the story goes that the frappé was actually created by accident.

One of the representatives of Nestle who was working at the Thessaloniki trade fair was trying to demonstrate how to use an instant chocolate-based drink in their new metallic shaker (like a cocktail shaker).

Then, another worker could not find any hot water for his instant coffee that he was going to drink on his coffee break, so instead took inspiration from the cold shaker, added milk, instant coffee, and ice cubes to one and hey presto, the first frappé was born!

After this revelation, Nestlé went on to make the frappé one of the most popular drinks in Greece. It is found in virtually every coffee shop there and has since been further popularised by coffee giants Starbucks, with its trademarked frappuccino.

Other sources claim that iced coffee originated back as far as the 1600s in Vienna.

Either way, the point is that iced, cold, and chilled coffee has been around for centuries, and every country has its own delicious spin on it!

Taste

Iced or cold brew coffee tends to taste sweeter than a hot cup of joe. This is because they are generally served with additional sweeteners, sugars or more milk than a hot cup of coffee.

Cold coffee may not sound particularly appetizing if you have never tried it before, but it is a refreshing, sometimes creamy but always delicious way to enjoy your java!

39 Iced Coffee Drinks Every Coffee Lover Should Try!

So, here is an extensive list of iced coffee-based drinks that every coffee lover should try at least once in their life! No matter how you like your iced coffee, there is something for everyone on this list.

It is worth noting that of course all of the recipes below require some form of coffee to be brewed in order to make them. Whilst espresso machines or other coffee brewing equipment may not be explicitly mentioned in the list of required equipment, please ensure that a coffee brewing method is available for each of these recipes.

The images used are for illustrative purposes only.

1. Iced Espresso

An iced espresso is a very simple drink, made by pouring freshly brewed espresso over ice and optionally adding a sweetener like sugar or honey.

Whilst this may not sound like much, an iced espresso is an incredibly refreshing drink that offers a nice pick-me-up on a hot day.

Equipment:

Serving Glass

Teaspoon

Ingredients:

1 Cup Ice Cubes

½ Cup Espresso (or strong coffee)

½ Teaspoon Sweetener (Sugar, Honey, Stelvia etc)

Method:

Here is a simple, easy to follow step by step method to guide you towards the perfect iced espresso!

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

First things first, let’s brew the perfect cup of espresso.

Now, there are many variables that go into perfecting the espresso shot, too many to cover in this short article.

However, one of the most common mistakes people make when selecting the coffee they want to use for espresso is actually picking coffee that is too old…

If your bag of ground coffee or coffee beans does not have a ‘date roasted’ label on it, chances are it is actually starting to lose some of its flavour. This is particularly an issue when espresso is on centre stage in a drink like this!

Rather than just picking up a random bag of coffee from your grocery store, see if you can find a local coffee roaster or coffee house that will sell you a bag of fresher beans that have been roasted within the last week or so.

The difference between fresh and stale coffee beans when brewing espresso is night and day!

In terms of grind size, you’ll want to go pretty much as fine as you can. This ensures the water in your espresso machine has the most contact time possible with the coffee grounds.

The choice of bean is up to you, but I would recommend a medium roast Arabica as a good place to start.

Simply add your coffee grounds to your espresso puck, distribute them evenly, tamp and brew!

If you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, here are a few alternative options:

Combine instant coffee with ½ a cup of small amount of hot water

Use a Percolator to brew strong coffee

Add coarsely ground coffee and a cup of hot water to a french press

Use a moka pot.

Once your coffee is brewed you can leave it to sit and cool down whilst you prepare the other ingredients.

I would recommend letting your espresso brew into a separate cup to the ice filled glass you will be using for your iced espresso drink.

Step 2: Mix Sweetener Into Your Coffee

The next step is optional, but if this is your first time trying an iced espresso I would recommend following it.

A double shot of espresso can be quite a bitter and abrasive assault on the taste buds of people that are not used to their coffee without any milk, extra hot water or sugar.

Adding half a teaspoon of sugar, honey or alternative sweetener to your shot of espresso can just take the edge off it and make it more enjoyable to drink over ice.

However, if you are a regular espresso drinker, feel free to skip this step!

Step 3: Serve Over Ice

The next step is to fill your serving glass with ice to ensure it is perfectly cold and ready to receive your strong, freshly brewed coffee.

Ensure you only add ice to your glass when you are getting ready to serve, as we don’t want any melted ice watering down the strong coffee!

You can even place your glass in the freezer before serving so it is misted up and extra cold, a great way to impress your friends!

Using larger ice cubes is preferable when making any iced coffee, whether that be an iced latte or iced americano. This is because they melt more slowly and have a lower chance of diluting your coffee.

Tip: If you want to take your iced coffee game to the next level, give coffee ice cubes a try.

Once your cup is filled with the ice cubes of your choice, simply pour over your now cooled and (optionally) sweetened espresso shot, stir and enjoy!

2. Frappé

A frappé is a coffee based, iced drink that is blended to give a smooth consistency. Rather than a traditional iced coffee that has ice cubes floating in it, frappés have a thicker texture and are usually topped with whipped cream and flavored syrup.

Frappés are usually made from strong freshly brewed coffee, milk, ice cubes and some form of sweetener to give it a more dessert-like taste.

Frappés are not always made from coffee however. They can also use flavored teas, juices or hot chocolate as their base.

There are a few simple steps to follow to make the perfect frappé from home.

Follow this simple step by step guide and you’ll have a frappé that’s even better than Starbucks in no time!

The following recipe makes 1 serving of frappé.

Equipment:

Ice Cube Tray

Blender

Serving Glass

Straw

Ingredients:

2 cup/ 16 fl oz/  460 ml strong, freshly brewed coffee (espresso is preferable)

1 cup/ 8 fl oz/ 230 ml whole milk (or milk alternatives)

2 tablespoons of sugar/sweetener

2 tablespoons of flavored syrup (caramel, almond etc)

Whipped cream (optional).

Method:

Here is a straightforward method for making a foolproof frappe from home!

Prep Time: 1 hour for coffee ice cubes, 5 minutes for frappé.

Step 1: Coffee Ice Cubes

The first step to creating the perfect frappé from home, is actually a bit left field…

We are going to make coffee ice cubes.

This may be something new to you, but go with it.

One of the biggest mistakes that coffee lovers make when trying to recreate a frappé at home is to add too much ice and not enough coffee. This ends up making a weak, flavorless slushie type drink that is nothing like what you get in your favorite coffee shop.

Instead, we are going to make ice cubes that actually contain coffee. This way, when we blend them to make the smooth frappé, we are actually blending frozen coffee rather than just water!

Simply brew 1 cup of coffee; this can be espresso, french press or any coffee brewing method of your choice. Then let this cool slightly and add to your ice cube tray.

Put these in the freezer for about 1 hour and you’ll have perfect coffee ice cubes to make your frappé fantastic!

Step 2: Prepare Ingredients

Whilst your coffee ice cubes are chilling out in the freezer, it’s time to prepare the other ingredients.

We want a second cup of freshly brewed coffee. Again, this can be a shot of espresso, a long black, or even instant.

The main thing here is that the coffee should be strong, so its flavor isn’t diluted when we blend it up with all the other ingredients.

Once you have your cup of coffee ready, you’ll need a cup of milk to go with it. I’d recommend whole milk for the most creamy texture, but if you are lactose intolerant any milk alternative like oat milk, soya milk or almond milk will work just fine.

Finally, get your whipped cream and flavored syrup of choice ready too.

If you aren’t sure which flavor of syrup to get, then check out some of the most popular options on Amazon

Step 3: Blend

The next step is to combine all of your ingredients together to produce your thick, creamy frappé mixture!

Simply add your coffee ice cubes, milk, brewed coffee, 1 tablespoon of flavored syrup and 2 tablespoons of sugar or sweetener to your blender.

Blend this mixture up until you have a smooth, creamy iced consistency that is between a paste and softened ice cream.

If you are struggling to blend up all of these ingredients on the first go, simply shake your blender container up to re-distribute the ingredients and blend again until smooth.

Step 4: Serve

Next, we need to serve this and present it as nicely as possible!

To serve your frappé, simply pour into your serving glass or glasses. If the texture is too thick to pour, simply add a splash or two of water and blend again until you achieve the consistency you are looking for.

Step 5: Top with Syrup/Cream

The finishing touch is to add your whipped cream and syrup to the top of your frappé to get the full experience!

Add a squirt of whipped cream to the top of your serving glass, drizzle your remaining tablespoon of flavored syrup on top of this and add your favorite drinking straw.

Your fantastic frappé from home is now complete!

3. Cold Brew Coffee

Cold brew has been around for centuries. In fact, most coffee historians believe cold brew dates back to the 1600s, where it originated in Japan. As with a lot of significant points in the history of coffee, it is difficult to track down exact dates and locations for when the first cold brew coffee was actually brewed, but the point is, it’s been around for a while!

Cold brew is incredibly popular in the summer months across the world. It tends to have a more mellow, earthy and subtle taste compared to iced coffee made from espresso, and this comes down to the way it is brewed.

Since cold brew is made using cold, filtered water, the extraction of the coffee’s oils and flavors happens over a much longer period of time. There is no heat or pressurized water to force the coffee’s flavors into the water, so much more time is needed for this process to take place.

Where a cup of espresso can be delivered in around 30 seconds, it takes at least 12 hours for a cold brew solution to produce a strong, palatable coffee!

For the purposes of the method shown below, I will be using a ratio of 1 part coffee to 3 parts water to produce a strong, but not overpowering coffee concentrate.

So, let’s dive into the basics of making the perfect cold brew coffee!

Equipment:

A Glass Jar (for the cold brew coffee to steep in) – Approx 30 oz capacity

V60/Coffee Filter

Sieve

Serving Glass

Ingredients:

Extra Coarse Ground Cold Brew Coffee – 1 Cup/200g/7 oz

Cold, Filtered Water – 3 Cups/600g/21 oz

Ice Cubes

Milk (optional)

Prep Time:

Preparing the Coffee (1 Minute)

Steeping and Brewing in the Fridge (12-24 hours)

Extracting Coffee and Serving (5 Minutes)

Method:

Here is a step by step fool proof method to brewing great cold brew coffee from the comfort of your own home, time after time!

Step 1: Pick Your Beans

The first step to making the perfect cold brew coffee from home is to pick the correct beans for the job.

Whilst any good quality coffee beans would make a high standard cold brew, I’d recommend going for a specially roasted “Cold Brew” bean. These are specifically blended to steep well during the long extraction period associated with cold brew coffee.

Don’t forget, we are brewing coffee using cold rather than hot water here. This extraction method brings out the dark, earthy notes of the beans rather than hot water that tends to extract more vibrant, nutty flavors.

Therefore, you want to use a bean that will complement this process.

Step 2: Grind

Next, let’s talk about grind size.

The main differences between which size of coffee grind you’ll need comes down to whether you’ll be forcing pressurized water through the grounds or submerging the coffee in water and letting them steep to brew.

For pressurized coffee extraction; think espresso, moka pot, percolator, aeropress etc, you’ll want a very fine grind.

Whereas, for submersion coffee extraction; think french press, cold brew, drip brew etc, you’ll want a coarser grind.

For cold brew coffee, you’ll want to use the coarsest grind your grinder will allow. This ensures that the maximum coffee flavor is extracted overnight.

Again, since we are using cold rather than hot water to dissolve those coffee flavors into the water, we need to ensure the grind is as robust as possible for the best results.

Add approx 1 cup/7oz/200g of these coarse coffee grounds to your glass jar and try not to spill any!

Step 3: Steep in Cold Water

The next step is to add your cold, filtered water to your glass container. Add around 3 cups, 21oz, 600g of cold, filtered water to the glass and shake well to ensure all of the coarsely ground coffee makes contact with the water.

Step 4: Leave Overnight

To get the best results and the maximum coffee extraction, you’ll want to leave your cold brew coffee in the fridge for at least 12 hours, but preferably overnight.

Step 5: Filter Your Cold Brew Concentrate

Once your cold brew coffee has been fully extracted, you’ll need to filter it to ensure you get the perfect, strong coffee concentrate without any left over sediment or grit.

Because you will have used coarsely ground coffee, the first filter can be done using a sieve. Simply strain your cold brew coffee through a sieve into a bowl to catch the largest grounds.

Then, once you have this liquid, pass it through a V60 and standard filter paper to ensure the coffee concentrate is completely free from any sediment.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!

Once you have got your coffee concentrate fully filtered and extracted, it’s time to serve!

It would be advisable to water down your coffee concentrate before serving.

The amount of water, ice and milk you may add to your cold brew coffee is up to you, and it definitely takes some trial and error to get the blend to your liking.

But as a general rule of thumb, add to your glass approx 1 third coffee concentrate, 1 third cold, filtered water, 1 third ice (and a splash of milk if required).

Watching the milk cascade down the sides of your chilled glass is one of the most satisfying parts of making a cold brew coffee!

Simply stir it up and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

4. Iced Americano

The word americano comes from the idea that during the second world war, American soldiers fighting in Italy found that regular espresso shots were too strong. They wanted something more similar to what they tasted back on home soil, so they decided to add hot water to espresso and hey presto, the americano was born!

When we bring ice to the picture, an americano becomes a much more refreshing drink. However, compared to its milky counterpart, an iced americano is actually quite a bitter and abrasive beverage for the uninitiated coffee drinker.

That splash of milk in a traditional iced coffee just adds a bit of creaminess to take the edge of the bitterness that accompanies even watered down espresso.

Whilst it may seem like making an iced americano is simply a matter of chucking some ice, espresso and cold water into a glass, there is a bit more to it than that.

With that being said, here is a simple recipe to make a great iced americano from the comfort of your own home!

Equipment:

Serving Glass

Espresso Cup

Water Filter

Teaspoon

Ingredients:

1 Cup Ice Cubes

½ Cup Espresso (or strong coffee)

1 Cup Filtered Water

Method:

Here is a simple, easy to follow step by step method to guide you towards the perfect iced americano!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Choose Your Espresso

As with a regular coffee brew, the bean type you use will have a massive impact on the end result. Everyone has their favorite coffee brands, blends, origins and roasts.

If you are a fan of a nutty, refreshing chocolate or caramel type flavour, then opting for a full bodied, balanced medium roast arabica would work well for this recipe.

However, if you are a fan of strong, intense flavors that won’t get watered down, then go for a dark roasted, smokey arabica or even a blend that includes robusta beans

Step 2: Brew

The next step is to brew your coffee. I’d recommend a double espresso regardless of which beans you have chosen for the best results.

Considering we are going to add water to this, you’ll be best off having a strong base of espresso to stand up to the ice.

Also, brew your espresso in a separate espresso cup to the glass you’ll be using, that way you can leave it to cool a little whilst you prepare the other elements of the drink.

Step 3: Add Ice

Next comes the ice!

For the best results, you’ll only want to get your ice from the freezer just when you are about to serve, to ensure you don’t get a coffee any more watered down than it needs to be!

Add ice to your glass before you put your coffee or water in there, as this will help to cool it down even more.

Step 4: Pour and Enjoy!

Finally, we put it all together!

Once your glass is filled with ice, add your now cooled double espresso and approximately the same amount of cold water.

Typically a double espresso comes in at around 120ml or 4 fl oz of coffee, so use the same amount of water to fill up your glass.

Once you have the espresso, cold water and ice all together, simply stir, sip and enjoy!

5. Iced Latte

There are only a few basic ingredients that go into making a great iced latte, but getting the best of these in the right proportions is a key factor in making an incredible iced latte.

First things first, let’s break down the equipment you’re going to need.

Equipment:

Serving Glass

Straw

Teaspoon

Ingredients:

1 Cup Ice Cubes

½ Cup Espresso (or strong coffee)

½ Cup Milk (Or Milk Alternative)

2 Teaspoons Sweetener (Sugar, Honey, Stelvia etc)

2 Teaspoons Flavoured Syrup (Optional)

Method:

Here is a simple, easy to follow step by step method to guide you towards the perfect iced latte!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first thing to do when making the perfect iced latte from home is to brew a great cup of espresso.

The choice of bean is up to you, but I would recommend a medium roast Arabica as a good place to start.

The traditional recipe for a latte, or iced latte for that matter calls for a double shot of espresso. To make this, you’ll want to grind your coffee very fine and use a proper espresso machine if possible.

If you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, here are a few alternative options:

  • Combine instant coffee with ½ a cup of small amount of hot water
  • Use a Percolator to brew strong coffee
  • Add coarsely ground coffee and a cup of hot water to a french press
  • Use a moka pot.

Once your coffee is brewed you can leave it to sit and cool down whilst you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2: Mix Sweetener and Syrup Into Your Coffee

Next, add your sweetener and syrup of choice to your freshly brewed coffee and stir. This will give your espresso or strong alternative coffee some time to blend with the sweeter flavors, whilst also giving it a bit of time to cool down.

Step 3: Fill Your Glass With Ice

The next step is to fill your serving glass with ice to ensure it is perfectly cold and ready to receive your strong, freshly brewed coffee.

Ensure you only add ice to your glass when you are getting ready to serve, as we don’t want any melted ice watering down the strong coffee!

You can even place your glass in the freezer before serving so it is misted up and extra cold, a great way to impress your friends!

Using larger ice cubes is preferable when making any iced coffee, whether that be a latte or iced americano. This is because they melt more slowly and have a lower chance of diluting your coffee.

Tip: If you want to take your iced coffee game to the next level, give coffee ice cubes a try.

Step 4: Pour Your Coffee

Once your glass is filled with ice, it is time to add your coffee.

Simply pour your coffee into your serving ice and stir, to ensure there is plenty of coverage with the ice cubes.

Step 5: Top Up With Milk

This is the fun part!

Adding your milk (or milk alternative like soya, almond or oat milk) to your iced glass is so satisfying!

Watching the milk cascade down the side of the glass and combine with your ice and coffee is great to watch, and is also a great way to serve your coffee to friends before stirring.

Simply fill up the remaining space in the glass with milk and you are ready to go!

Step 6: Stir and Enjoy!

Whilst the rippling effects of the milk in your serving glass are very pleasing to watch, iced lattes are best enjoyed when all the ingredients are mixed together.

So, simply stir it up, add you straw and enjoy your refreshing, incredible iced latte!

6. Cold Coffee

Cold coffee originated in India, a nation that traditionally drinks more tea than anything else. One of India’s most popular exports is Chai, check out my article on Chai here

Cold coffee differs from traditional cold brew or iced coffee in that it is made from ice cream, so is more of a dessert than a refreshing drink!

However, this is how you make a cold coffee!

This recipe is for 1 serving of Indian Cold Coffee.

Equipment

Serving Glass

Ice Cream Scoop

Blender

Straw

Ingredients

Splash of Water

Ice cubes

1 Tablespoon Instant Coffee/1/2 Cup Freshly Brewed Coffee

2 Teaspoons Sugar or Sweetener

2 Cups Cold Milk

1 Scoop Ice Cream

Whipped Cream

Flavored Syrup

Sprinkles (Optional)

Method

Here is a step by step guide of how to make a traditional Indian Cold Coffee.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Blend Coffee, Water and Sugar (or Sweetener) Together

Add your ground, instant coffee or freshly brewed coffee of choice, along with your sugar or sweetener and splash of water to a blender.

Blend or pulse until combined and the mixture has become frothy.

Step 2: Add Ice Cream, Ice Cubes, Milk, Flavored Syrup and Combine

The next step towards creating a frothy cold coffee treat is to add your ice cream, ice cubes, milk and flavored syrup of choice to the blender container that already has your coffee, sugar and water mixture. I would suggest vanilla flavor for this recipe, but the choice is yours!

Again, blend this all up until it has a smooth, frothy and thicker consistency.

Step 3: Pour Out into Serving Glass

When you have the perfect, thick and creamy cold coffee mixture, pour it out into your serving glass.

If your mixture is too thick, simply add a splash more water until you achieve the consistency you would like. If the mixture is too thin, you can add more ice cubes and ice cream.

Step 4: Top with Whipped Cream and Sprinkles

The final step is to top your glass of creamy cold coffee with a squirt of whipped cream and some sprinkles, I’d suggest chocolate or vanilla flavor.

Then, simply add your straw and enjoy! You may even need a spoon to attack this dessert-like coffee concoction!

7. Nitro Coffee

Nitro coffee may sound like some futuristic invention that is just a new fad entering the coffee world. But, nitrogen infused coffee has actually been around for over a decade!

The idea is that nitro coffee offers a different texture, taste and overall drinking experience compared to regular cold brew coffee.

Nitrogen infused drinks may not sound familiar, as the most popular gas to be added to drinks is carbon dioxide. However, carbonated drinks like sodas, beers and sparkling wines are a lot more fizzy than ‘nitrogenated’ drinks.

Equipment:

A Glass Jar (for the cold brew coffee to steep in) – Approx 30 oz capacity

Serving Glass

V60/Coffee Filter

Sieve

Nitrogen Cold Brew Press/Whipper – 1 Ltr Capacity  (more details below)

Nitrogen Charge Cartridge

Ingredients:

Extra Coarse Ground Cold Brew Coffee – 1 Cup/200g/7 oz

Cold, Filtered Water – 3 Cups/600g/21 oz

Method:

Here is your step by step guide to brewing the perfect glass of nitro cold brew coffee today!

Prep Time: 24 Hours

Step 1: Pick Your Beans

The first step to making the perfect nitro coffee from home is to pick the correct beans for the job.

Step 6: Prepare the Nitrogen

Once you have your pure coffee concentrate ready, the next job is to prepare your nitrogen dispensing device.

These come in a few different shapes and sizes, but the main two options are either a keg style or a whipper style.

Kegs tend to be a little more expensive but also offer more reliable results for nitro coffee extraction. Whereas whippers tend to be a little bit cheaper but can be a bit more hit and miss when it comes to the final product.

Check out which option suits you best on Amazon here.

To prepare your nitrogen keg or whipper, simply install your Pressurised Nitrogen Cartridge into your machine and you’re ready to go!

Step 7: Infuse Your Coffee

Once your nitrogen dispense is charged and primed, you can now add your cold brew coffee concentrate to the machine.

Simply pour in the coffee until it is a few cm from the top, screw on the lid tightly and you are ready to go!

For the best results, shake your keg or whipper a few times.

Step 8: Serve

Now you’re ready to serve!

Simply release the valve on your nitro coffee machine or device and it will slowly pour into your serving glass!

Let the coffee settle for a few seconds and watch the foamy, frothy, smooth coffee cascade down the glass.

This is the most satisfying part of the nitro coffee making process, other than the drinking of course!

8. Affogato

An affogato is an age-old Italian dessert that combines coffee with delicious freshly brewed espresso with traditional gelato or ice cream.

It is incredibly simple to make and is strictly speaking more of a coffee dessert than a drink. However, it is so delicious that I had to include it in the iced coffee drinks list!

In fact, if you leave it to melt for long enough, you’ll actually be left with a rich, creamy, sweet espresso based drink anyway!

Equipment

Serving bowl or Short glass

Spoon

Ice Cream Scoop

Espresso cup

Ingredients

Freshly brewed espresso (or strong coffee)

High quality Italian Gelato/Vanilla Ice Cream

Method

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The traditional recipe for an Affogato uses a freshly brewed double shot of espresso.

Add your fresh brewed coffee to your espresso cup and leave it to sit whilst you are preparing your gelato or ice cream.

Step 2: Pour Over Scooped Gelato/Ice Cream

The next step is to scoop a couple of servings of your good quality gelato or ice cream into a small serving bowl or glass.

Then, simply pour your coffee over the top and you’re ready to go!

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!

Simply dig into your traditional Italian coffee based dessert with your spoon if it is still solid, or if it has fully melted, drink it up!

9. Coconut Iced Coffee

One of the best pallet cleansing iced coffee drinks you’ll find is coconut iced coffee. It is incredibly satisfying and adds an element of sweetness and freshness to a standard chilled coffee.

Here is everything you’ll need to make a great tasting, simple coconut iced coffee from the comfort of your own home!

Equipment

Serving Glass

Spoon

Espresso cup

Additional coffee cup (to combine ingredients)

Ingredients

½ Cup Freshly brewed coffee of your choice (espresso, french press, moka pot etc)

¼ Cup Condensed milk

¼ Cup Coconut milk

Flavored Syrup

Sweetener of your choice (sugar, honey, stelvia etc)

Ice Cubes

Whipped Cream (optional)

Method

Below is a simple and straightforward method for creating the best coconut iced coffee for yourself!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step with this recipe is to brew your strong coffee. This forms the basis of the coconut iced coffee, as you need a strong, sharp brew to offset the sweetness of the creamy coconut milk and condensed milk.

I would recommend a dark roasted coffee bean for this recipe. Using espresso would also be recommended, but if you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, using a moka pot, french press or percolator would also work well.

Pour your coffee into an espresso cup or any separate coffee mug you have to hand, we’ll be using this later on.

Step 2: Make Coconut Cream

The next step is to make the coconut cream itself.

In your second coffee cup, combine your coconut milk, condensed milk, flavored syrup (I recommend vanilla) and any additional sweetener you would like to include.

Then, simply whisk these ingredients together with a small whisk or a fork, until they are combined.

Step 3: Add Your Ice Cubes to the Serving Glass

Next, let’s put the ice into this iced coffee!

Add a few ice cubes to your serving glass to ensure it is completely chilled and ready to receive your coffee and coconut cream mixture.

Step 4: Pour, Top with Whipped Cream and Serve!

You should now have your coconut cream, freshly brewed coffee and ice filled serving glass ready to assemble.

First, pour your now slightly cooled espresso or alternative strong coffee over your ice cubes and mix.

Then, add your sweetened, flavored coconut cream mixture to your iced coffee. Make sure to pour this slowly so you can enjoy the cascading, silky smooth cream flowing into the dark, bold coffee and ice.

Finally, top with some whipped cream if you want an extra treat and enjoy!

10. Shakerato

You may not have ever heard of a Shakerato, but it is a very simple espresso based iced coffee that adds an element of class to this list.

A shakerato is reminiscent of an espresso martini in the way it’s served, but is alcohol free and incredibly refreshing to sip.

The name comes from the fact that a cocktail shaker is used to combine freshly brewed espresso with sugar and ice. The Shakerato is served in a martini glass and was first brewed in Italy.

Equipment

Cocktail shaker

Cocktail strainer

Martini glass (or wine glass)

Espresso cup

Ingredients

Freshly brewed espresso (or alternative strong coffee)

Ice cubes

1 Teaspoon Sugar (or alternative sweetener of choice)

Method

Below is a foolproof method to making a great Shakerato from home, the perfect way to impress your friends!

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step, like many of the recipes on this list, is to brew a fresh cup of coffee.

Traditionally, strong espresso is used to give this drink a punchy taste, but if this is not available to you then go ahead and use an alternative coffee brewing technique.

Brew your coffee and add to your espresso cup for safe keeping.

Step 2: Add Sugar to Coffee

The next step is to add a teaspoon of sugar to your hot, fresh espresso. The reason we add the sugar to the espresso whilst it is hot rather than after it has been chilled, is that it dissolves more quickly and thoroughly into the liquid.

This will take some of the harshness and bitterness out of your espresso, making it more palatable to drink when cold.

Step 3: Add Coffee and Ice to Shaker

Next, add your sweetened espresso and ice cubes to your cocktail shaker.

If you don’t have a cocktail shaker to hand, then a protein shaker with a metal ball actually works quite well too!

Step 4: Shake to Combine and Serve

Finally, give your coffee and ice a coffee shake up to ensure it is combined and nicely chilled.

Serve into your cocktail glass through your cocktail strainer to give the espresso a nice foam on top.

11. Iced Cappuccino

A regular cappuccino is a coffee made from hot, frothy milk and generally topped with chocolate powder. However, an iced cappuccino takes this classic Italian coffee drink to the next level with a refreshing twist.

Here is a great recipe to make your very own iced cappuccino!

Equipment

Serving Glass

Teaspoon

Ingredients

100ml/ ½ Cup Cold Milk

1 Teaspoon Sugar (or alternative Sweetener)

Ice Cubes

Coffee Pods/Freshly Brewed Coffee

Hot Chocolate Powder/Chocolate Shavings

Cinnamon/Nutmeg Shavings (Optional)

Method

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

First things first, it’s time to brew your coffee. Any strong, freshly brewed coffee will work well for this recipe, as it helps to cut through the richness and sweetness of the milk and sugar.

Step 2: Mix in Sugar/Spices

The next step is to mix in your sugar and any additional spices you’d like to add to your iced cappuccino. Nutmeg and cinnamon work fantastically well and give a comforting warmth to the drink, which works brilliantly to offset the coldness.

Mix these into your hot, freshly brewed coffee as they will dissolve much faster this way.

Step 3: Add Milk and Ice Cubes

Next, add your cold milk and ice cubes to your serving glass along with your sweetened coffee. I’d recommend first adding your ice cubes to cool the glass down, then your coffee, and finally your milk.

Watching the creamy milk cascade down the glass and ripple into the coffee and ice is a sight to behold!

Step 4: Top with Chocolate and Enjoy!

Finally, add your hot chocolate powder or chocolate shavings to the top of your glass and enjoy!

For more information on how to make a fantastic iced cappuccino, check out this recipe by Nespresso “ICED CAPPUCCINO”.

12. Cappuccino Freddo

Sticking with the cappuccino theme, the next iced coffee drink you should try is the classic cappuccino freddo. Freddo means cold in Italian.

The cappuccino freddo actually originates from Greece rather than Italy as you may have thought.

Here’s how you can make a great cappuccino freddo from home!

Equipment

Serving Glass

Milk Frother

Teaspoon

Ingredients

Freshly Brewed Strong Coffee

Ice Cubes

Low fat milk

Cocoa Powder

Method

The main idea at play with a cappuccino freddo is to create two separate layers in the drink. The bottom layer is the iced espresso (or alternatively brewed strong coffee), and this is topped with a layer of foamed milk. This gives you the contrast of light, fluffy milk which is cut with strong, iced coffee.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step towards creating a fantastic cappuccino freddo is to brew some strong espresso. Typically, a cappuccino freddo uses a double espresso, but if you don’t have an espresso machine to hand you can use any form of strong, freshly brewed coffee as the base of this recipe.

Step 2: Prepare Your Serving Glass

Next, add a few ice cubes to your serving glass to cool it down. If you want to add an extra twist to your cappuccino freddo, pop you glass in the freezer for a few minutes before serving, it will frost up and look amazing!

Step 3: Froth the Milk

Next, we need to froth out milk. This can be done using a handheld milk frother, an eclectic plug in frother or even giving it a good shake in a cocktail or protein shaker! The idea here is to get as much air into the milk as possible, so it has a nice frothy, cloud-like consistency.

Step 4: Assemble and Serve

Finally, add your freshly brewed coffee to your ice filled serving glass, and top with your foamy milk for the ultimate iced cappuccino experience!

13. Ube Iced Coffee

Purple yams and iced coffee may seem like a bit of a strange combination, but this traditional Indian drink is colorful, delicious and perfect for summer sipping!

Ube is a traditional yam that comes from the Phillipines and is commonly used in desserts. It is usually mashed up to form a jam and is then used in cakes, ice cream and more!

You can buy Ube extract or powder online and it has a subtle sweetness and almost nutty flavor to it.

Equipment

Electric Whisk

Serving glass

Teaspoon

Separate Mug

Ingredients

Ube extract/powder

Espresso shot (or strong coffee)

¼ Cup Coconut milk

¼ Cup Regular milk

1 Teaspoon of your choice of sweetener

Flavoured syrup

Ice Cubes

Method

Here is a proven method for creating a quick, simple and delicious Ube iced latte!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step of this recipe is to brew your shot of coffee. I’d recommend strong espresso to complement the nuttiness of the Ube and offset the sweetness of your sugar or sweetener of choice.

However, if you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, any strong coffee alternative will do the job.

Step 2: Add Sweetener and Whisk

Next, add your sweetener to your freshly brewed, hot coffee and whisk. This will add more air and therefore volume to your coffee, giving it a light, airy texture. This is the perfect consistency to top the creamy, milky base of this drink.

Step 3: Mix Ube, Milk, Flavoured Syrup and Coconut Milk to Combine

Once your whipped espresso is ready, the next thing to do is make your Ube and milk mixture.

Simply add your milk, coconut milk, flavored syrup of choice and Ube powder or extract to your separate mug and stir to combine. You should get a thick, creamy purple liquid that is sweet and delicious!

Step 4: Pour and Serve

Finally, add your ice to your serving glass, along with your Ube and milk mixture. Stir this round to make sure everything is cold, and top with your whipped, frothy coffee.

Simply sip and enjoy!

14. Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Ca Phe Sua Da)

Vietnamese iced coffee is incredibly easy to make but also tastes sweet and delicious. Vietnamese tradition dictates that hot coffee is drunk in the morning, and iced coffee is consumed late in the day.

Vietnamese Ca Phe Sua Da gets its name by combining milk, ice and coffee together to make a refreshing yet rich and creamy drink. The stand out feature of Vietnamese coffee is the use of condensed milk. This gives Ca Phe Sua Da its signature velvety texture.

Equipment

Coffee brewing device of choice

Serving glass

Ingredients

¼ Cup Dark roasted coffee

3 Tablespoons Condensed milk

Ice cubes

Method

Below is a quick and easy way to make Vietnamese Ca Phe Sua Da from the comfort of your own home!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first thing to do is brew your dark roasted coffee. Traditionally, either French or Vietnamese coffee is used because of its bitterness and body. This offsets the sweetness of the condensed milk and makes for a more well rounded drink.

The age-old method for brewing coffee in Vietnam calls for a Phin, a pour over coffee brewing device that produces strong and rich java.

However, if you don’t have one of these to hand, a moka pot, french press or aeropress will do the trick.

Step 2: Add Ice and Condensed Milk to Serving Glass

Once your coffee is brewed, it is time to prepare the other elements of this drink!

Simply add your ice cubes and condensed milk to your serving glass and stir.

Step 3: Top With Your Coffee and Enjoy!

Finally, add your hot, strong coffee to your glass containing the condensed milk and ice cubes and enjoy!

15. Mint Iced Coffee

If you are looking for an incredibly refreshing, thirst quenching iced coffee that will also cleanse your pallet in a jiffy, then mint iced coffee is for you!

This recipe utilises cold brew coffee, mint leaves and vanilla to create a delicately balanced drink that will keep you coming back for more.

Patience is the key when making cold brew coffee concentrate, so be sure to prepare your mint iced coffee a day in advance of when you want to drink it.

Equipment

Glass mason jar

Saucepan

Sieve

V60 coffee filter

Serving glass

Straw

Sharp Knife

Ingredients

Vanilla extract/pods

Fresh mint leaves

Coarsely ground, dark roasted coffee

½ Cup Condensed milk/full fat milk

1 Cup Sugar

Cold, Filtered Water

Ice Cubes

Method

Prep Time: 24 Hours

Step 1: Prepare Your Cold Brew Coffee

The first step is to combine your coarsely ground, cold brew coffee beans with cold, filtered water to form the basis of your cold brew coffee concentrate.

Add around 3 cups, 21oz, 600g of cold, filtered water to the glass and shake well to ensure all of the coarsely ground coffee makes contact with the water.

In general for cold brew coffee, you can produce either a coffee concentrate or a ready to serve coffee solution. Coffee concentrate uses a ratio of around 1 part coffee to 3 parts water, whereas a cold brew coffee that is ready to drink would use 1 part coffee to 7 or 8 parts water.

Once you have given the coffee grounds and water a good shake up, put it in the fridge and leave to steep overnight.

Step 2: Make Vanilla and Mint Syrup

Next, we need to make the mint and vanilla syrup which will give this iced coffee its tantalisingly fresh flavour!

In your saucepan over a medium heat, add your sugar, 1 cup of cold filtered water, a small bunch of fresh mint leaves (approx 10) and either scraped vanilla pod beans or 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Let this bubble away until the sugar is fully dissolved and a light syrup starts to form, this should take around 5-10 minutes.

Then, simply remove from the heat, add to a bowl and set in the fridge along with your cold brew coffee overnight.

Step 3: Leave Both to Cool Overnight

Once you have made both the mint and vanilla syrup and your coffee concentrate, simply leave them both to steep and set overnight.

Trust me, it will be well worth the wait!

Step 4: Strain Coffee Concentrate and Syrup

The next day, retrieve your cold brew coffee concentrate and mint syrup from the fridge, ready to assemble your mint iced coffee.

Next, simply strain your coffee through a sieve, and then again through a V60 filter to ensure there is no sediment remaining and the coffee concentrate is completely smooth and clean.

Once this is done, wash out your sieve and use it to strain your vanilla and mint syrup, making sure to catch any bigger bits of mint so they aren’t floating around in your coffee!

Step 5: Assemble in Glass with Ice Cubes

Next, add ice cubes to your serving glass to ensure it is nice and cold, ready for serving. Add condensed milk and stir with the ice cubes.

Then, add your cold brew coffee concentrate (around ½ a cup) and 2 tablespoons of your mint syrup.

Step 6: Serve with Mint Leaves and Straw and Enjoy!

Simply mix it all together and add a couple of fresh mint leaves to the top of the glass along with your straw. Serve and enjoy!

16. Espresso Tonic

This straightforward iced coffee drink is perfect for coffee lovers that want a sophisticated, non-alcoholic beverage to sip on at the bar.

Espresso tonic is an unusual but refreshing way to enjoy your coffee with a classy twist.

Equipment

Serving glass

Ingredients

Espresso Shot

Ice Cubes

Tonic Water

Slice of Lime (Optional)

Method

Prep Time: 1 Minute

Step 1: Pull Your Shot of Espresso

The first step to make an espresso tonic is to pull the perfect shot of espresso. This is important as there is nowhere for a substandard shot of espresso to hide in this recipe. You are simply combining it with tonic water and ice, so the shot has to be great.

I’d recommend a medium roast Arabica bean that is well balanced, not too sharp or earthy and has some nutty or chocolatey flavor notes.

Step 2: Add Tonic Water and Ice to Serving Glass

Next, simply add your tonic water and ice cubes to a glass, leaving enough room for your espresso shot to sit on top.

Step 3: Pour Over Espresso and Enjoy!

Finally, pour your shot of espresso over your tonic water and ice in your serving glass. The fizzy tonic water will suspend the shot of espresso in the glass, causing a layered effect. This is a great way to present espresso and puts it in the centre stage.

Add an optional lime wedge to bring an additional element of freshness and enjoy!

17. Banana Milk Coffee

Another slightly unusual but the delicious iced coffee recipe is banana milk coffee.

This healthy iced coffee drink is creamy and comforting, the perfect way to balance out a strong, dark shot of espresso!

Equipment

Blender

Serving glass

Ingredients

1 Banana

Shot of Espresso (or alternatively brewed strong coffee)

1 Tablespoon of Honey

Ice Cubes

½ Cup of Milk

Method

Here is a foolproof recipe for making a great banana milk coffee every time!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Espresso Shot

The simple first step towards making the perfect banana milk coffee is to brew a single shot of espresso. This can be medium strength and if you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, using an aeropress, half filled french press or moka pot also works fine.

Step 2: Add Banana, Milk, and Honey to Blender

Next, add your peeled banana, milk and honey to a blender and pulse until a smooth, creamy consistency is formed.

If your banana milk mixture is too thick, simply add a splash more milk!

Step 3: Combine and Serve Over Ice

Finally, add your ice cubes to your serving glass, followed by your banana milk and shot of espresso and enjoy!

18. Iced Caramel Macchiato

The iced caramel macchiato has become incredibly popular in recent years, in no small part because of its availability at Starbucks. This is a creamy, sweet and simple iced coffee that is perfect for a summer’s day.

Equipment

Serving Glass

Teaspoon

Ingredients

2 Teaspoons Caramel Flavoured Syrup/Sauce

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Flavoured Syrup

2 Shots of Espresso

Ice Cubes

½ Cup of Milk

Method

Here is a simple, easy to follow recipe for the perfect iced caramel macchiato that you can make for yourself!

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Double Shot of Espresso

First things first, go ahead and brew your double shot of espresso. I would recommend a dark roast for this recipe as it helps to add some earthy and smokey notes to the intense sweetness of the caramel and vanilla flavored syrups.

Step 2: Line Your Glass with Syrup

Next, you’ll want to add your caramel and vanilla sauce/syrup to the inside of your glass. Make sure it is evenly distributed so you get a well balanced taste!

Step 3: Add Ice Cubes and Your Milk

Next, fill up your glass with ice cubes and top with your milk of choice. Any milk alternatives like oat, soya or almond also work perfectly fine in this recipe.

Step 4: Top with Espresso, Stir and Enjoy!

To finish, top off your ice and milk filled glass with your now slightly cooled double shot of espresso, stir the whole thing together to ensure the flavored syrups are fully incorporated and enjoy!

19. Iced Mocha

A classic mocha combines hot chocolate with coffee to make a deliciously sweet, but still bitter and robust drink. Add ice to the equation and you’ve got a dessert like a blend of creamy, nutty, chocolatey goodness!

An iced mocha is a real treat that can not only cool you down on a hot summer’s day, but also give you a sweet taste sensation at the same time!

Equipment

Serving glass

Saucepan

Ingredients

Freshly brewed coffee shot

Whipped cream

½ Cup of milk

50g Dark chocolate

Ice cubes

Method

Below is a simple but effective recipe to brew the perfect iced mocha from the comfort of your own home!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Strong Coffee

The first thing to do in this recipe is to brew your strong cup of coffee. A double shot of espresso is preferable, but if this is not doable, a strong half cup of coffee made from a moka pot, aeropress or french press would work equally as well.

Step 2: Prepare Your Chocolate Milk

Chocolate milk is quick and easy to make. Simply heat your saucepan on a medium heat, add your milk and dark chocolate and stir until combined and silky smooth. Once the mixture is fully combined, remove it from the heat and let it cool whilst you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 3: Fill Serving Glass with Ice

Next, add a few ice cubes to your serving glass to chill it nicely before adding the rest of your ingredients.

Step 4: Assemble and Serve!

Finally, we need to bring it all together to make the perfect iced mocha.

After giving your espresso and chocolate milk a few minutes to cool down, simply add them to the ice filled glass and stir. Top your iced mocha with a dollop of whipped cream if you fancy a sweet treat, and enjoy!

For more information on this iced mocha recipe, check out this article by Miriam Nice of BBC Good Food “Iced Mocha”.

20. Mocha Smoothie

If you want to take your iced mocha to the next level in the texture department, give his mocha smoothie a try!

Equipment

Blender

Serving glass

Ingredients

½ Banana

Fresh brewed coffee/espresso

¼ Cup almonds

¼ Cup natural yogurt

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ Cup milk/milk alternative

Ice cubes

Method

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

First things first, your strong coffee needs to be brewed before anything else. The key here is to use a well balanced, but strong coffee that will offset the sweetness of the fruit and sweeteners used in this recipe. Ideally, a double shot of espresso would be used here, but any strong, freshly brewed coffee will do the trick.

Step 2: Add Ingredients to Blender

Next, simply add all of your ingredients to a blender. This includes the freshly brewed coffee, banana, almonds, milk, natural yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract and ice cubes.

You may need to pulse your ingredients a few times to break down the ice and get everything to combine together. If your mixture is too thin, simply add more of your banana and a few more almonds. If it is too thick, you can add a splash of more milk or some water.

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!

Finally, pour the mixture into your serving glass and enjoy!

21. Mocha Cola

The mocha cola is a classic Brazilian cocktail, consisting of coca cola, coffee and ice. Whilst it doesn’t necessarily contain any hot chocolate like a regular mocha, it is often served with a scoop of ice cream, much like a coke float!

Equipment

Serving Glass

Straw

Ingredients

½ Can of Coca cola

½ Cup Freshly brewed coffee

Ice Cubes

Scoop of ice cream (optional)

Method

Here is a quick and easy method for making the Brazilian classic Mocha Cola

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

First off, you want to brew a strong ½ cup of coffee as the other ingredients in this recipe are extremely sweet! To get a coffee that will cut through the sugar, I’d recommend a dark roasted bean, brewed as a double shot of espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, you could use a couple of heaped teaspoons of strong instant coffee for the mocha cola.

Step 2: Combine Your Ingredients in Your Serving Glass

Next, simply combine your cola, coffee and ice cubes into your serving glass and stir well until the mixture is fully combined.

Step 3: Top With Ice Cream and Enjoy!

Finally, top your mocha cola with a scoop of ice cream (vanilla is classic but choose what you like), add your straw and enjoy!

For more information on this recipe, check out this post by Allrecipes from September 2022 “Iced Mocha Cola”.

22. Vegan Iced Mocha

Not everyone can stomach a dairy filled iced latte or mocha, but that doesn’t mean that a vegan version can’t taste great too! There is a lot to be said for vegan recipes, and oat milk is the perfect substitute for regular milk in this vegan iced mocha.

Equipment

Serving Glass

Ingredients

Double shot of espresso

Chocolate sauce

1 teaspoon sugar/sweetener

½ Cup of chilled oat milk

Ice cubes

Method

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step in this recipe is to brew your strong espresso. A double shot is ideal for this vegan iced mocha as it adds a nice earthy punch to compliment the sweetness of the sugar and chocolate sauce.

Step 2: Add Your Ice Cubes to Your Chilled Glass

Next, chill your glass by leaving it in the freezer for a couple of minutes and then add your ice to your glass. This will ensure you have a perfectly chilled vessel for your coffee and chocolate combination.

Step 3: Assemble Ingredients and Serve!

Finally, coat the inside of your glass with chocolate sauce, add your oat milk to your ice and top with your now slightly cooled espresso.

Simply stir it all up and enjoy!

23. German Iced Coffee (Eiskaffee)

It seems that the Germans, much like the Italians, love a scoop of two of ice cream in their iced coffee! The Eiskaffee is a sweet treat from Germany that is often enjoyed on a hot summer afternoon.

Equipment

Serving glass

Ice cream scoop

Ingredients

Double shot of Espresso

1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream

Whipped Cream

Chocolate Sauce

Method

The method below is a great one to make a simple yet delicious Eiskaffee from the comfort of your own home.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Prepare Your Coffee

The first job to do to make the perfect Eiskaffee is brew a strong cup of fresh coffee. I would recommend a dark roast because it offsets the intense sweetness of the ice cream and chocolate!

Step 2: Add Ice Cream to Serving Glass

Once your coffee is brewed, simply add your scoop of ice cream to your serving glass, ready to receive the rest of the ingredients.

Step 3: Top with Chocolate Sauce and Whipped Cream

Finally, add your strong espresso to your serving glass, and top with chocolate sauce and whipped cream for the perfect coffee based sweet treat!

For more information on the German Eiskaffee, check out this post by International Desserts Blog “Eiskaffee: The Best Coffee in Germany”.

24. Brandy Iced Coffee

Another sweet, sumptuous coffee based drink is the brandy iced coffee from Sri Lanka. This is a classic dessert-like iced coffee that is made using traditional Sri Lankan spices to give it a comforting warmth to offset the sweetness.

Equipment

Serving glass

Coffee mug

Ingredients

Instant coffee

⅓ Cup Condensed milk (sweetened)

Vanilla Ice Cream

Brandy

Vanilla Extract

Ice Cubes

Metho

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Instant Coffee

First things first, let’s brew our instant coffee. We want this to be fairly strong and highly concentrated to offset the sweetness of the condensed milk and compliment the brandy, so add a couple of teaspoons and ½ cup of hot water to your mug and stir.

Step 2: Add Ice Cubes, Condensed Milk, Brandy and Vanilla Extract to Your Glass.

In your serving glass, add your ice cubes, condensed milk, brandy and vanilla extract and stir to combine.

Step 3: Add Your Coffee and Top with Ice Cream

Finally, once your brandy and milk mixture is fully incorporated, top this with your now slightly cooled instant coffee and add your scoop of ice cream on top of this to finish.

Now serve and enjoy!

25. Italian Iced Coffee (Granita di Caffè Con Panna)

This classic Italian iced coffee hails from Sicily and is a decadent dessert-like drink to be enjoyed in the heat of summer every so often. There is a bit of a fine art to making the perfect granita, so be patient, stick with it and you will definitely be rewarded!

Equipment

Serving glass

Straw

Metal bowl

Saucepan

Spoon

Ingredients

¼ cup white sugar

½ cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup strong coffee (espresso preferable)

Whipped cream

Method

This is a traditional method for producing mouth watering Granita di Caffè Con Panna. Although it takes a while, it is definitely worth being prepared and organized as the end result is to die for!

Prep Time: 3 Hours 15 Minutes

Step 1: Make Your Caramel

The first step in this recipe is to make your basic caramel which forms the basis of the granita. Simply add your sugar and water to your saucepan and warm over a medium heat. Stir continuously to avoid burning or sticking.

It should take around 5 minutes to form a caramel, and once this has happened remove the pan from the heat.

Step 2: Add Espresso and Vanilla and Whisk

Once your pan is removed from the heat and a caramel has formed, mix in your freshly brewed espresso (double shot), vanilla extract and whisk continuously until combined.

Step 3: Add to Metal Bowl, Let Cool and Freeze

Next, add this mixture to a metal bowl and allow it to cool down to room temperature. This should take between 10 and 20 minutes. Once cooled, add it to the freezer and leave for 1 hour.

Step 4: Stir to Break Up Ice Every Hour for 3 Hours

Next, we want to stop any major ice crystals from forming in the granita mixture so it is nice and creamy for serving. In order to do this, we need to break up and stir the mixture once every 3 hours, and return it to the freezer once broken up.

Step 5: Add Whipped Cream, Granita and More Whipped Cream!

Finally, after the 3 hours freezing and breaking up process is complete, it is time to serve!

Remove your silky smooth granita from the freezer about 10 minutes before serving so it has a chance to soften up a bit.

Then, add a layer of whipped cream to your serving glass, followed by 2 spoonfuls of your granita mixture, followed by another layer of whipped cream on top.

Dig in with your spoon and enjoy!

26. Caramel Coconut Iced Coffee

Another deliciously sweet and refreshing combination of flavors comes from the caramel coconut iced coffee.

Equipment

Serving glass

Saucepan

Separate mug

Ingredients

½ Cup Strong, freshly brewed coffee

½ Cup water

⅓ Cup Caster Sugar

2 Tablespoons vanilla extract

½ Cup coconut milk

1 Scoop vanilla ice cream (optional)

Ice cubes

Method

Below is a simple, quick and delicious method for caramel coconut iced coffee that you can whip up in no time!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Step 1: Make Your Caramel

The first thing that this recipe calls for is caramel. Whilst you can buy caramel sauce or syrup from the store, making it yourself fresh is a lot more satisfying!

It may sound complicated but is actually very simple to do.

Simply add your sugar and water to your saucepan and warm it on a medium heat until a loose caramel syrup is formed. Then, remove from the heat and add a splash of water if it gets too thick or gloopy.

Step 2: Brew Your Strong Coffee

Next, you’ll want to brew a strong cup of coffee to offset the intense sweetness of that caramel!

I’d recommend using a dark roasted bean and brewing it as a double shot of espresso, but you could equally use an aeropress, moka pot, percolator or french press if this is more convenient.

Step 3: Add Caramel, Ice and Coconut Milk to Your Glass

Once your caramel has cooled down, you can line your serving glass with it and also add your ice cubes. This will help ensure the glass is cold enough to cool off your coffee.

Then, add your coconut milk to the ice filled glass and you’re nearly done! If your coconut milk has separated (into thin liquid and solid clumps), you can simply whisk it together in a separate bowl to get it smooth and creamy again.

Step 4: Top with Strong Coffee (and Ice Cream) and Enjoy!

Finally, add your strong coffee and perhaps a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the top of your glass and watch it ripple down the edges, catching that delicious caramel as it goes.

Now it’s time to serve and enjoy!

27. Topo Chico Iced Coffee

The Topo Chico iced coffee is a modern take on the cool cup of java. This is a clean, refreshing and thirst quenching take on the iced coffee that will leave your feeling energized and ready to attack the day!

Equipment

Serving glass

Ingredients

½ Cup Topo Chico (or regular sparkling water)

½ Cup Cold Brewed Coffee

Fresh Mint Leaves

Ice Cubes

Filtered water

Method

Prep Time: 24 Hours

Step 1: Prepare Your Cold Brew Coffee

The first step towards creating the perfect Topo Chico iced coffee is to prepare your cold brew coffee itself. Simply add a coarsely ground, dark or strong medium roast coffee to a mason jar with cold, filtered water (the best ratio is around 1 to 3 or 1 to 4 coffee to water). Give it a good shake and set it in the fridge overnight.

Step 2: Leave Overnight

To get the best results and the maximum coffee extraction, you’ll want to leave your cold brew coffee in the fridge for at least 12 hours, but preferably overnight.

Step 3: Filter Your Cold Brew Concentrate

Once your cold brew coffee has been fully extracted, you’ll need to filter it to ensure you get the perfect, strong coffee concentrate without any left over sediment or grit.

Because you will have used coarsely ground coffee, the first filter can be done using a sieve. Simply strain your cold brew coffee through a sieve into a bowl to catch the largest grounds.

Then, once you have this liquid, pass it through a V60 and standard filter paper to ensure the coffee concentrate is completely free from any sediment.

Step 4: Assemble Your Ingredients and Serve!

Once you have your cold brew coffee concentrate ready to go, it is time to serve!

Add ice cubes to your serving glass, along with around half a cup of cold brew coffee concentrate. Top it off with fresh mint leaves and enjoy this refreshing fizzy iced coffee!

28. Lemonade Iced Coffee

Whilst flavored iced tea is incredibly popular, lemonade iced coffee takes the game to a whole new level!

This cool, refreshing and thirst quenching drink offers a bittersweet symphony of flavor.

Equipment

Serving glass

Lemon Juicer

Ingredients

Chilled espresso

Ice cubes

Lemonade

1 Tablespoons Fresh lemon juice

Fresh mint

Method

Here is a quick and easy method for making a great tasting, refreshing and bittersweet Lemonade Iced Coffee.

Prep time: 20 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

Whilst this is a straightforward recipe, it does require a bit of patience to chill your freshly brewed coffee. The ideal candidate for this is a double espresso, as it has the strength and bitterness to offset the naturally sweet lemonade and complement the sharpness of the freshly squeezed lemon juice.

If you don’t have an espresso machine to hand, then using a moka pot, aeropress or percolator will also work well.

Simply place your coffee in the fridge for 15 minutes or so to cool whilst you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2: Add Ice, Lemonade and Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice to Serving Glass

The next step is add your remaining ingredients to the serving glass, ready for the chilled coffee.

Fill your glass with ice cubes, add your lemonade and freshly squeezed lemon juice and stir.

Step 3: Stir and Serve

Finally, once your coffee has chilled, add this to your icy lemonade filled glass and stir. You can also top this drink with a couple of mint leaves for extra freshness!

29. Vanilla Cold Brew Coffee

Vanilla is often thought of as a neutral or plain jane flavor, but when it is fresh and mixed with the right ingredients, it is absolutely delicious!

Vanilla cold brew coffee is refreshing and thirst quenching, the perfect accompaniment to a hot summer’s day!

Equipment

Saucepan

Serving glass

Sieve

V60 coffee filter

Mason Jar

Hand electric whisk

Ingredients

Coarsely ground coffee beans

2 vanilla pods

Vanilla extract

Filtered, cold water

Ice cubes

½ Cup Milk

⅓ Cup White Sugar

Method

Here is a step by step guide to making the perfect vanilla cold brew coffee for yourself today!

Prep Time: 24 Hours

Step 1: Prepare Your Cold Brew Coffee

The first step towards creating the vanilla cold brew coffee is to prepare your cold brew coffee itself.

Step 4: Prepare Your Vanilla Syrup

Once you have your cold brew coffee concentrate ready, the next thing to do is prepare your vanilla syrup.

Simply add your sugar and water to your saucepan and heat over a medium heat until a runny syrup forms. This should take around 5-10 minutes.

Once the syrup has come together, cut open your vanilla pods and scrape out the beans. Add these to your vanilla syrup and stir together until fully incorporated.

Step 5: Prepare Your Vanilla Cream

The next step is to make delicious vanilla cream to go in your coffee. Simply add your vanilla extract (around 2 teaspoons) to your milk and whisk it with your electric hand mixer. Combine until the milk has thickened slightly and is frothy.

Step 6: Combine and Serve

Finally, add your ice cubes to your serving glass, drizzle your vanilla syrup around the inside edges of the glass, fill it half way with cold brew coffee concentrate and then finally top it off with that delicious, foamy vanilla cream!

30. Kahlua Iced Coffee

Adding a dash of alcohol to your iced coffee is a naughty but nice way to enjoy a refreshing drink on a hot day. Adding a coffee based liqueur like Kahula to your iced coffee takes it to a whole new level!

The sweetness and aromatic coffee flavors of Kahula brings out the best in your iced coffee, intensifying the flavor and adding a boozy kick!

Equipment

Serving Glass

Ingredients

¼ Cup Kahlua

¼ Cup Milk

½ Cup Freshly Brewed Coffee

Ice Cubes

Method

This is a very straightforward recipe to create a delicious Kahlua iced coffee from the comfort of your own home!

Prep Time: 2 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first thing to do is brew your coffee. This doesn’t need to be particularly strong as there is plenty of coffee flavor as well as sweetness in the Kahlua that we will be adding later on. A medium roast Arabica bean will work just fine here.

A double espresso is preferable for this recipe, but using a moka pot, french press, percolator or aeropress to brew your coffee will also work just fine.

Step 2: Prepare Your Serving Glass

The next thing to do is prepare your serving glass. Simply fill it up with ice so it is nice and cold!

Step 3: Combine Ingredients

Next, add your Kahlua, coffee and a splash of milk (as per the ingredients list above) to your serving glass.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!

Once all of your ingredients are combined, stir them up and enjoy!

31. Samoa Iced Coffee

Samoan iced coffee is a decadent treat that will send your taste buds into overdrive! This dessert-like drink combines the freshness of coconut with the bitterness of dark roasted coffee along with a sweet chocolaty finish.

There is a well balanced combination of sweet, bitter and freshness in this recipe for Samoa iced coffee, so give it a try for yourself!

Equipment

Serving glass

Ingredients

½ Cup Dark roasted coffee

½ Cup Coconut milk

2 Teaspoons shredded coconut

Chocolate syrup

Whipped cream

Ice cubes

Method

Below is a foolproof method for creating the perfect Samoan coffee from home. The perfect way to enjoy a coconut flavored sweet treat on a hot summer’s day!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step in the process of making the perfect Samoan iced coffee is to prepare your dark roasted, strong coffee itself. I recommend using dark roasted beans in this recipe as it offers a more smokey flavor which cuts through the sweet coconut milk and whipped cream nicely.

Step 2: Prepare Your Serving Glass

Next, simply add your ice cubes to your serving glass to make sure it is extra cold!

Step 3: Add Coconut Milk and Coffee

Once your ice filled glass is ready, simply add your coconut milk until the glass is half full, then top this up with your freshly brewed coffee, leaving just enough room at the top for your final sweet toppings!

A top tip is to shake up your can of coconut milk before serving to make sure it is fully combined and there are no lumps!

Step 4: Top with Whipped Cream, Chocolate syrup and Shredded Coconut

Finally, top your Samoan iced coffee with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a sprinkle of shredded coconut for added freshness!

32. Indonesian Iced Coffee (Es Alpukat Kopi)

An interesting take on iced coffee from Indonesia is the Es Alpukat Kopi, or iced coffee with avocado.

This may sound like a strange combination, as most people enjoy avocado on toast rather than in their iced coffee! But, this dessert based iced coffee drink is rich, creamy and actually quite healthy compared to some of the others on this list!

Equipment

Serving glass

Blender

Separate coffee mug

Ingredients

⅓ Cup Strong, freshly brewed, dark roasted coffee

1 Teaspoon brown sugar

½ Ripe avocado

⅓ Cup Coconut Water

⅓ Cup Coconut Milk

Ice cubes

Method

Below is a simple but delicious recipe for Indonesian avocado coffee, Es Alpukat Kopi.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Dark Roasted Coffee

First things first, you need to brew your strong, dark roasted coffee for this recipe. Dark roasted beans are used to cut through the richness of the coconut milk and avocado, and also provide a bitter, smokey base for this iced coffee.

You only need around ⅓ of a cup, so a double espresso or a small amount of moka pot, french press or aeropress brewed coffee will do the trick.

Once your coffee is brewed, add it to a separate coffee cup and stir in your brown sugar. Doing this whilst the coffee is hot will ensure the sugar is fully dissolved and combined with the coffee.

Step 2: Place Ingredients in Blender

Once your coffee is brewed, it is time to blend up the other ingredients.

Place your avocado, coconut milk, coconut water and sweetened coffee into your blender and pulse until fully combined. We are looking for a thick smoothie-like texture here.

If the mixture is too thick, simply add a splash of water and blend again. If it is too thin and watery, you can add a little more coconut milk and avocado to thicken it up.

Step 3: Prepare Serving Glass

Next, simply add your ice cubes to your serving glass to ensure it is completely chilled and ready for serving.

Step 4: Pour and Enjoy!

Finally, pour out your blended avocado coffee into your serving glass and enjoy!

33. New Orleans Iced Coffee

If you’re looking for an iced coffee that’s as smooth as the jazz from New Orleans, try out their signature chicory brew!

Chicory is actually used as a coffee substitute in some parts of the world, thanks to its rich, smokey flavor that compliments coffee incredibly well. This is the stand out ingredient in New Orleans iced coffee and it offers a unique flavor that every coffee lover should try!

Equipment

Sieve

V60 coffee filter

Mason Jar

Serving Glass

Ingredients

Ice Cubes

Coarsely ground coffee beans

1 Heaped tablespoon of ground chicory

¼ Cup condensed milk

Method

Step 1: Prepare Your Cold Brew Coffee

The first step towards creating the New Orleans iced coffee is to prepare your cold brew coffee itself. Simply add a coarsely ground, dark or strong medium roast coffee to a mason jar with cold, filtered water (the best ratio is around 1 to 3 or 1 to 4 coffee to water).

Then, add your heaped tablespoon of chicory extract and ensure the whole thing is mixed together.

Because you will have used coarsely ground coffee and ground chicory, the first filter can be done using a sieve. Simply strain your cold brew coffee through a sieve into a bowl to catch the largest grounds.

Then, once you have this liquid, pass it through a V60 and standard filter paper to ensure the coffee concentrate is completely free from any sediment.

Step 4: Prepare Your Serving Glass

Once your cold brew coffee concentrate is ready, it’s time to prepare your serving glass. Simply add your ice cubes to the glass so it is nice and cold and ready for all of the ingredients to be added.

Step 5: Combine Ingredients and Serve!

Finally, add your ingredients in the following order and serve.

Pour your condensed milk, then your coffee and chicory concentrate to your ice filled serving glass and enjoy!

34. Mazagran Iced Coffee

Mazagran is an Algerian coffee served over ice that combines citrus flavors with earthy coffee aromas. This iced coffee drink is traditionally served with rum and can trace its origins back to the 1800s.

In this recipe, we are ditching the booze and making a refreshing, cleansing iced coffee that will leave you feeling revitalized!

Equipment

Serving glass

Lemon juicer

Ingredients

Ice cubes

½ Cup freshly brewed coffee

3 Tablespoons lemon juice

2 Teaspoons white sugar

Mint Leaves (optional)

Method

Here is a simple, easy to follow recipe to make the perfect, non-alcoholic Mazagran iced coffee!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step in this recipe is to brew your coffee. A medium roast will work perfectly for the Mazagran iced coffee, as the bitterness and sharpness of the fresh lemon juice will complement it nicely.

You can use any brew method you like, as long as it yields around ½ cup of good quality coffee.

Once your hot coffee is brewed, mix in your sugar so it fully dissolves and sweetens your java.

Step 2: Juice Lemon

Next, use your lemon squeezer to extract around 3 tablespoons worth of fresh lemon juice.

Step 3: Prepare Serving Glass

The next step is to add plenty of ice to your serving glass, to ensure it is cold enough to cool your hot coffee right down.

Step 4: Combine and Enjoy!

Finally, add your sweetened coffee and freshly squeezed lemon juice to your ice filled glass and stir to combine. Top off with a few mint leaves if you want an extra bit of freshness and enjoy!

35. Cuban Iced Coffee (Con Leche)

Cuban iced coffee places Cuban coffee beans on cente stage. It is a simple iced coffee drink that is typically served at breakfast. It combines strong, freshly brewed coffee with traditional spices and warming flavors.

Equipment

Serving Glass

Ingredients

⅔ Cup Cuban Coffee (Or strongly brewed espresso)

1 Teaspoon brown sugar

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

⅓ Cup Milk

Pinch of Salt

Ice cubes

Method

Here is a straightforward method for creating the perfect, traditional Cuban Iced Coffee!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

The first step here is to brew your Cuban coffee. This is typically done using an espresso maker, but if you don’t have access to one or Cuban coffee beans themselves, a strongly brewed medium to dark roast coffee will do the trick.

Once your hot coffee is brewed, simply add your brown sugar, pinch of salt and cinnamon and stir to dissolve it in your java. This will take a bit of the bitterness out of your strong coffee and enhance the flavor.

Step 2: Prepare Serving Glass

Next, add ice cubes to your serving glass to ensure it is cold enough to chill all of your other ingredients.

Step 3: Combine Ingredients and Enjoy!

Finally, pour your coffee mixture over your ice cubes and top this off with your milk and watch it cascade down the inside of your glass. Now it is time to serve and enjoy!

36. Yoghurt Coffee

Another unusual iced coffee recipe that is surprisingly delicious is yogurt coffee. This chilled coffee drink comes from Vietnam and is traditionally called Sua Chua Cafe.

This is a healthier alternative to the traditional iced latte that will get your taste buds tingling thanks to the tartness and sweetness of the flavor combinations.

Equipment

Serving Glass

Ingredients

½ Cup Strong Coffee

¼ Cup condensed Milk (Sweetened)

¼ Cup Natural yogurt

Ice Cubes

Method

Below is a foolproof method for making the perfect Vietnamese yogurt coffee!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Coffee

First things first, let’s brew out coffee.

Traditionally, a Vietnamese Phin is used to brew Vietnamese coffee beans, but if these are difficult to get hold of, you can use a dark roasted bean and a moka pot to brew your coffee.

Step 2: Prepare Serving Glass

Once your coffee is brewed, set it aside and prepare your serving glass. Simply add your ice cubes to your glass to make sure it is chilled appropriately.

Step 3: Combine Your Condensed Milk and Yogurt.

Next, combine your condensed milk and natural yogurt. Add these to a small bowl and mix them together until fully incorporated.

Step 4: Add Ingredients to Serving Glass and Enjoy!

Finally, pour your freshly brewed coffee over your ice cubes and top this with your condensed milk and yogurt mixture. There should be a satisfying ripple effect as the light dairy cascades down into the dark coffee. Simply stir these ingredients together and enjoy!

37. Thailand Iced Coffee (Oliang)

Oliang, the traditional Thai iced coffee, combines delicious fresh coffee with creamy condensed milk and sweet flavors to deliver a well balanced, warming drink.

Despite the fact this is an iced coffee, there are plenty of spices in Oliang, giving it a unique flavor.

Equipment

V60 filter

Serving glass

Separate glass

Ingredients

⅔ Cup Boiling water

2 Tablespoons condensed milk

2 Tablespoons Oliang Powder

2 Tablespoons evaporated milk

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

Ice cubes

Method

Here is a straightforward, step by step method for creating the perfect, well balanced Thai Oliang from the comfort of your own home!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Brew Your Oliang Coffee

The first thing to do is to brew your Oliang coffee mixture. Oliang is a traditional Thai coffee mixture that contains ground coffee, cardamom, corn, and soy soybeans.

Simply add 3 tablespoons to your V60 filter and gradually pour over boiling water until you have around ⅔ of a cup of Oliang coffee brewed. Once it is ready, stir in your white sugar to add an extra bit of sweetness to the Oliang.

Step 2: Prepare Serving Glass

Next, whilst your coffee is cooling, it’s time to prepare your serving glass. Simply add your ice cubes and then move onto preparing your milks.

Step 3: Mix Your Milks

To get the milk component of the Thai iced coffee ready, simply add your evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract to your additional glass and stir to combine.

Step 4: Assemble and Serve!

Finally, add your sweetened Oliang coffee mixture to your ice filled glass. Then, top this off with your vanilla and milk mixture and give the whole thing a good stir before serving!

38. Malaysian Iced Coffee (Ais Kopi Cham)

Malaysian iced coffee, or Ais Kopi Cham to give it its full name, is a traditional chilled beverage that actually combines both authentic Malaysian tea with coffee. This is a sweetened iced coffee that uses condensed milk to add sweetness and body to the drink, which also helps to complement the strength of the Ceylon black tea and strongly brewed coffee.

Equipment

Tea strainer/seive

Serving glass

Saucepan

Ingredients

½ Cup Condensed Milk

½ Cup Strong, freshly brewed coffee

2 tablespoons of Thai Ceylon loose tea leaves

1 Teaspoon brown sugar

Ice cubes

½ Cup filtered water

Method

Below is an easy way to make traditional Thai Ais Kopi Cham from your own home!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Step 1: Brew and Sweeten Your Coffee

The first step to making Thai iced coffee is to brew a strong ½ cup of medium roast arabica. This can be via a double espresso, moka pot or aeropress, whichever is easiest for you.

Once your hot coffee is brewed, stir in your brown sugar until fully dissolved to sweeten the java. Leave this to one side and let it cool down.

Step 2: Add Ingredients to Saucepan

In your saucepan, add 1 cup of filtered water and your Ceylon tea leaves and bring to a boil. This should be done over a medium heat and will take 5-7 minutes.

Once your tea is starting to boil, reduce the what and stir in your condensed milk. Stir continuously until fully combined, then remove from the heat.

Step 3: Simmer and Strain

Once your tea and condensed milk have been fully combined, pass the mixture through a tea strainer or sieve to catch the black tea leaves before serving.

Step 4: Add Your Coffee and Serve

Finally, add ice to your serving glass, top with your now cooled coffee and finish off with the tea and condensed milk mixture on the top. Stir it up and enjoy!

39. Iced Coffee with Apple

Apple and coffee may not sound like a match made in heaven, but when you add brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla to the party it all just makes sense! Despite this being an iced coffee recipe, it is reminiscent of the winter months thanks to the warming spices used.

Give this a try if you are missing Christmas festivities in the middle of summer!

Equipment

Saucepan

Sieve

Serving glass

Ingredients

1 Eating apple

1 Cup water

1 Cup brown sugar

½ Cup freshly brewed coffee

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

2 Teaspoons vanilla extract

Ice cubes

⅓ Cup milk

Method

Below is an easy recipe for apple iced coffee that anyone can follow!

Prep Time: 25 Minutes

Step 1: Brew You Coffee and Set Aside

First things first, you need to brew your coffee for this recipe. A medium roast, high quality arabica bean works perfectly for this iced coffee. Simply brew around ½ a cup of strong coffee whichever way you like and set it aside for later.

Step 2: Cut Your Apple and Make the Syrup

The next job is to make the apple syrup!

Simply add your water and brown sugar to the saucepan on a high heat, stirring continuously until a smooth syrup starts to form.

Once the syrup starts to come together, lower the heat to medium and add your apples, cinnamon and vanilla extract, continuing to stir until fully combined.

After a couple of minutes, remove from the heat and let cool for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Let Syrup Cool and Prepare Serving Glass

Whilst the apple syrup is cooling down, you can fill your glass with ice cubes and add your milk, to ensure everything is nice and cold.

Step 4: Combine Ingredients and Serve!

Finally, top up the milk and ice with your now cooled coffee, top with the apple syrup and enjoy!
